Diagnosis | Thalli form dense tufts, composed of somewhat erect branches, brownish green, always associated with other species of algae. Main axes percurrent, terete, tapering towards the apices, 410 to 800 μm in diameter, proliferous at the upper portion. Branches densely clothed with short lateral branchlets which are 150 to 300 μm apart but slightly farther at the terminal portions; lateral branchlets may be simple and acuminate or compound, bifurcate or beset with short spinose projections. Thalli to about 13 cm in height (Ref. 80758). |
