Rarely intertidal. Most often found at depths of 20 to 220 m and occasionally to 550 m (Refs. 103032, 116562). Observed on muddy or sandy bottoms, and occasionally on shallow rocky bottoms (Ref. 103032).

Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
