It is found on steep rock walls at a depth of 23 m. It is associated with anthozoans, Parazoanthus elongatus, barnacles, Arossia henryae, and bryozoans (Ref. 87801).

Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
