Found on soft and hard rocky substrates, at depths of 15 to 820 meters, in crevices or irregularities of the bottom, and may be associated with hard corals like Desmophyllum dianthus, in inner fjords, channels and exposed areas (Ref. 87801).

Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
