Indo-Pacific, Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea and Antarctic Atlantic: Alaska, South Georgia and Antarctica. Subtropical to polar.

Known from depths of 300 to 2600 m, most commonly found in about 2000 m. This is a deep sea, pelagic species (Ref. 111123). Appears to be meso- and bathypelagic (Ref. 85342).
