Inhabits rocky and muddy bottoms in shallow waters to depths of about 40 m. Omnivorous, feeding on seaweeds and small crustaceans (Ref. 434).

Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
