50 to 100 cm wide; numerous 144 radial furrows on exumbrella, and between them same number of marginal lappets; the 16 stomach pouches terminate in 164 to 176 dichotomous ramuli; 8 times 2 rhopalar and 144 to 160 velar terminal canalc; mouth-arms about half as long as diameter of umbrella, the numerous tentacles arise from the middle zone of the subumbrella; eight sense-organs in deep niches.
Largest known medusa in tropical Atlantic (Ref. 3268). Neritic, potentially pathogenic (Ref. 116114).

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
