2 to 3 cm wide; in each octant eight velar lappets, in the middle two double lappets, at each side of these two single lappets and one ocular pointed lappet; terminal appendages nearly as long as the mouth-arms, predominantly purple in color.

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
