Colonies have sturdy bases and thick tree-like upright tapering branches. Corallites are widely spaced on basal parts, becoming more compact towards the branch tips. Tan or yellowish brown in color.
Zooxanthellate (Ref. 116012). Found in protected shallow environments, especially in turbid water (Ref. 847).

Life cycle: The zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva. Metamorphosis begins with early morphogenesis of tentacles, septa and pharynx before larval settlement on the aboral end.
