Short description
Morphology
Colonies are encrusting or sub-massive or form a complex of horizontal plates and large irregularly diving upright bifacial fronds. Corallites are in deep valleys which are concentric on plates and generally less than 50 mm long. Tan, brown or yellow-brown in color.

Hermaphroditic (Ref. 113712). Mature gametes are shed into the coelenteron and spawned through the mouth. Life cycle: The zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva. Metamorphosis begins with early morphogenesis of tentacles, septa and pharynx before larval settlement on the aboral end (Ref. 833).
