Description synthétique Morphologie

Thin encrusting; 0.2 cm thick; continuously covering the substratum. Brown to gray in color. Oscula: 0.2 - 0.3 cm wide with a cream colored rim. Papillae may be distinguished on small specimens or growing on rims (Ref. 415).

Maximum thickness: 0.2 cm (Ref. 415). Mostly deeper than 6 m, sometimes in shallow rubble (Ref. 415). Also occurs in mangrove ponds (Ref. 86789).

Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
