Also found on coral reefs (Ref. 415); common on coral rubble on reefs and ridges (Ref. 1758); on mangrove roots, piers and pilings (Ref. 86424). Solitary (Ref. 1758). In Belize, it was found in a submarine cave near Columbus Cay (Ref. 87209).

Members of the class Ascidiacea are hermaphroditic; both cross- and self-fertilization is typical. Life cycle: Eggs develop into lecithotrophic larva before metamorphosing into benthic adults.
