This species is native and widely distributed in lakes, ponds and rivers throughout of Turkey. Introduced in many European countries until 1986, before the crayfish plague was observed in 1985 (Ref. 126939).
Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
