Maximum depth range from Ref. 121863. Found in the coast on sandy beaches. Inhabits gravel to muddy sand, intertidal to a depth of 183 m (Ref. 121863), shallowly buried (Ref. 121870). Also found in a lagoon (Ref. 121876) and in maerl beds in Brittany (Ref. 112062).

Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
