Complementary nematocysts macrobasic euryteles; male blastostyles unreduced, with two-chambered sporosacs; female blastostyles unreduced and hermaphroditic, with spermatic cells over female spadix surrounding the egg (Ref. 3086).
Characterized by its large macrobasic euryteles, its small size and predominantly stolonal habit, and particularly by the presence of hermaphroditic gonophores in the female blastostyle (Ref. 3086). Found at depths of 0 to 10 m, growing on Posidonia oceanica (Ref. 3086).

Members of the order Anthoathecata are mostly colonial A-form hydroids. Life cycle: The zygote develops into planula inside the gonophore and is later released as an actinula which metamorphoses into polyp stage.
