Up to 17 cm wide, with 8 broad, marginal lobes slightly notched centrally; branching of the canals mainly in their distal portions; mouth-arms long and broad, much folded and lobed throughout their length, with a deep incision at their base. Color of tentacles and gonads rose-red.

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
