Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean: from Morocco to southern Angola, northwards to Portugal, Mediterranean (Ref. 435). Also found in Guinea Current (Ref. 417).

Maximum carapace width: 4.7 cm. Inhabits marsh land, mud flats, often near river mouths, making burrows on muddy ground (Ref. 435).

Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
